Office best deal or Opal Office is a Scam, or at least Deceptive
www.officebestdeal.com offers an inexpensive substitute for MS Office. Or so they claim. What they are actually selling is a piece of open source software that is already available for free. It is called Open Office and is produced by Sun Microsystems. You may download it for free, HERE.
Office Best Deal will happily take your money & give you this free software. On top of that they offer a unconditional money back guaranty. Wrong.
They refer to the software as "opal office" not open office which is its real name, and give the impression it is their own product..
They are selling snow to Eskimo's.
When I first enquired with them about this software, they sent me back this email:
Hello,
Yes, our software has the same functionality as Microsoft Access. You will hardly notice the difference. We are offering 100% money back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose, please give it a try.
Kind Regards,
Russ.
www.OfficeBestDeal.comNothing to lose,. huh?
OK, I thought, what the heck? $11 is pretty cheap. When I got the software, and found out they were simply reselling something that was actually free (which I already had, BTW), I requested a refund. No answer. I requested a refund several times. Dead silence. Ok, I thought, maybe they are on vacation, so I established a couple more email addresses & pretended to be a new potential victim, I mean customer. Guess what immediate responses like the one above. They were there. They simply do not want to honor their refund promise. I can only conclude from this that this company is run by a con man. I have complained to the BBB and the registrar of their domain name, plus the attorney general of the state is looking into them.
